Many of my colorful mixed media pieces are collaged directly onto recycled paper bags.  Start with a typical brown paper shopping bag with handles. Cut out the front and back and coat with gesso and acrylic paint.  Layer with collaged papers, stencils, charcoal writing, painting, more collage work, and more paint. The handle of the bag makes the perfect hanger.
